Shuning JiI am an freelance Illustrator and visual devlopment artist based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with Distinction in 2021.
Since 2020, I have been freelancing and have had the opportunity to publish comics with various publishers. In 2021, my first UK-published comic book, 'Catalyst,' was released. I was honored to participate in the Graphic Anthology Programme (GAP) organized by Selfmadehero, which is aimed at nurturing, publishing, and promoting emerging creators of color from across the UK. Out of many applicants, I was selected as one of the six candidates for this program. I've been a big fan of Japanese animes since childhood, my favorite animes are Detective Conan and Ghibili studio work. I've also always admired the artistry and design found in games and animation. I am dedicated to incorporating these painting techniques into my own work- Utilizing color to vividly capture the atmosphere of every scene within each story. I love environmental painting and character design. usually I prefer to paint digitally on Procreate and Photoshop. But I also paint traditionally, gouache and acrylic markers are my favorite painting tools.
